Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
With his squad increased to 44 men, Coach Floyd Stahl opened the spring's first outdoor baseball practice this week on the Freshman diamond. Late Tuesday afternoon an A team lineup downed a B team, 5-3, in an inter-squad practice game. Jack Wallace and Dick Wholley each pitched two complete innings, facing both teams.
The A team lineup is by no means the final one but many of its more experienced players seem assured of a first team berth. The only other veteran other than Wallace, upon whom Coach Stahl can depend is Art Conlon, flycatcher deluxe, back from 19 Varsity games of last spring and summer, but both Jack Knowles and Mel Lackey, pitcher and catcher, played regularly for the B team last year and took part in a few Varsity contests. A war veteran with six games of Varsity play two years ago, Jack Forie is leading the competition for second base.
Look Green
"They look pretty green," said Stahl, summing up the situation," . . . much more so than last year. Then we had quite a few experienced men but now we have practically nobody with more than high school practice to back him up. Also, we're long on pitchers and short on good hitters for the other posts." B ill Johnson and Bill O'Neill, who played the outfield in Tuesday's practice game, are both pitchers. "Wallace will probably have to play too, when he's not pitching," added Stahl. "He can hit pretty well."
