NETWORK STUDIOS WILL MOVE TO DUDLEY HALL EARLY IN MAY

Razing of Shepherd Forces Shift to New Headquarters

Forced out of its studios by the University's decision to raze Shepherd Hall, the Crimson Network will move into quarters on the ground floor of Dudley Hall, the Commuters Center. Moving day will be on or about May 11, and broadcasting will continue uninterrupted while the new station is being set up.

Construction plans call for two studios with glass panels and a control room between. An innovation will be the cut studio, equipped with a microphone and used for station breaks. Maintaining an audio line from Winthrop House to Dudley Hall is the only change to be made in the transmission system. The transmitter will remain in the basement of Winthrop.

Valuable information about the listening habits of Harvard students are brought out by a radio audience poll taken by the Network last term. According to 26 percent of the students who returned questionnaires, studying can be effectively carried on with the radio going. Ten percent of the ballots held that studying was improved by the radio.

The most popular listening hours are between nine and ten o'clock in the morning and evening. Classical music and good dramatic shows were chosen favorites by most of the reporters.
