Lowell and Adams Houses and Standish Hall will be open for civilian students during the Spring Term, Dean Leighton revealed last night, indicating that members of the Class of 1948 who entered in November and are at present living in Standish would be able to choose between remaining there or moving to the House to which they have been assigned for their meals and social activities.
Tentative figures supplied by the Houses spiked rumors that one building would be closed in March, and indicate that rooms in Lowell and Adams will not be sufficient to handle all the civilian undergraduates planning to return for the Spring Term and in addition the number of additional freshmen, now estimated at 75, who have been accepted and will register for the first time on Friday, March 2.
New Freshmen Divided
The new Freshmen entering in March will be quartered in both of the Houses and in Standish, but those men who have been in Standish during the Winter Term and desire to move will be given preference in assignment to the Houses.
Dean Leighton announced that civilian students, including those now living in Standish Hall, would not be permitted to shift from the Houses of which they are now members. The respective House secretaries will take charge of the assignment of rooms to new men.
In order to complete the House room plans at the earliest possible date, the office of the Dean of Freshmen will mail cards in the near future to those living in Standish Hall, thus permitting the men to indicate their preferences for location of rooms during the Spring Term.
