Clinton M. Ritchie, president of the Student Council, said yesterday that the contribution of Harvard College students to the Greater Boston United War Fund would be taken from the service fund raised by voluntary contributions of seven dollars from each of College students about the time of registration.
President Conant wrote to all members of the Harvard staff on September 25 urging attention to the worthy purposes of the Greater Boston United War Fund. "In a free society," he said, "the responsibility for meeting community needs is continuous. Harvard will do its full share, I am sure, in support of this great neighborhood undertaking."
The campaign, which started on October 1, will continue through the seventeenth of the month.
