Tufts Downs Quintet Again; Boxers Overcome Williams

In an overtime contest Saturday night at Tufts, Coach Floyd Stahl's Crimson quintet came within 12 seconds of its first victory of the season, but when the final tally was counted, Harvard was on the short end of the score, 50 to 47. The B team won its thriller 56 to 52 in three overtime periods.

At halftime the Crimson led 27 to 20, and with only a minute left to play in what might have been the final period held a four point lead over the outplayed Jumbos. A set shot by Bob Cooney of the home team and a lay up in the closing seconds by Bob Moran tied the count at 43-all. A pair of baskets by Johnson and Noble for the Crimson was not quite enough to top the Jumbos' overtime score of seven points, and the Stahlmen went down to their fifth straight defeat.

Wallace Out on Fouls

With three minutes yet to play, a fifth personal foul meant the loss of Jack Wallace to the cause of the Crimson. The absence of Wallace, key man in the defense, hurt the team's effectiveness no little, as Harvard had showed its best form of the season, out playing the victors through the better part of the game.

The B team, headed by high scorers Francke and Flynn, turned in its second win of the year as against an equal number of defeats, in three overtimes. The Tufts outfit overcame a four point halftime deficit to tie things up 30 to 30 at the close of the third period.

In the final quarter the score seesawed back and forth until a 39 to 39 tie at the whistle necessitated an extra stanza. At the end of the third extra period, the Crimson five held the advantage, 56 to 52 and walked off with the ball game.

Still after its first win of the current campaign, the team will take on Worcester Poly at 8 o'clock in the Indoor Athletic Building tomorrow night. The B team will journey to Boston University in a try for its third triumph
