Garber Privately Tells Faculty That Harvard Must Rethink Messaging After GOP Victory
In order to "bring together students of different countries, diffuse knowledge of world problems, promote better acquaintance, and further mutual understanding," a group of Harvard undergraduates has founded an International Club, whose membership is open to the 300 foreign students at Harvard and Radcliffe as well as to interested Americans.
The new organization, in its first meeting, Wednesday evening in Phillips Brooks House, drew up a constitution for the group. In the future, the International Club will cooperate with the Post War Council and Brooks House in planning public forums, discussion groups, and social activities.
In a message citing the need for the club, President Conant wrote: "An organization which is to lead to better understanding between these students and those of American nationality, to assist foreign students in their problems, and to make them feel more at home in this community, can perform a service of great usefulness. I wish for you a successful realization of your purposes."
