Company C Beats Lowell; Captures Baseball Honors

Behind the two-hit pitching of its ace, Ronald Wright, Company C topped Lowell, 3-2, in a special play-off last Saturday, and won the championship in the Intramural baseball league.

Donahue's sharp single scored Wright from third in the last of the ninth to break up the extra-inning battle. The winners collected seven safeties off Lowell's hurler, Wally Robb, as they beat the civilians for the second time this season.

Scoring once in the first and third frames, the V-12ers took an early lead, but were tied by Lowell tallies in the fourth and sixth, which sent the contest beyond the normal seven inning distance. The game was tight, but rather loosely played, as both clubs contributed four errors.

Wright, in winning his seventh victory of the campaign without a loss, established himself as the loop's top flinger, and his baffling combination of curves and fast balls had the Lowell batsmen off balance. The tall sailor, who pitched the C team to a pennant in softball last July, struck out 13 batters in a superlative pitching exhibition.
