Newly re-organized and one of Harvard's active extra-curricular groups the Outing Club has already completed seven trips and is planning at least two more expeditions for each weekend during the rest of the team. With W. Lawrence Minor, Jr. of V-12, Henry U. Grunebaum '47, and Alan Balsam '48, heading it, the club now boasts 25 active members.

In conjunction with similar groups at such nearby colleges as Radcliffe, Simmons, and M.I.T., the society has conducted canoe, hiking, bicycle, and horseback trips to many spots of interest, including Ipswich Beach, the Concord River, and the Blue Hills.

Singing Beach

In the near future the members of the club will journey to Manchester's famous singing beach, so called because its sand is so tightly packed that it sings when one walks on it. Also on the agenda are a Waback Trail trip and another to the Concord River, this one under the direction of Radcliffe hikers.

The club will in addition hold a square dance at Memorial Hall on Saturday. August 19, which will be featured by a new plan for gatherings of this sort. A short time before the dance itself begins, the club will offer instruction for beginners.
