Traditional Affair to Repeat Next Sunday

With three gallon cans of pineapple juice on hand, Phillips Brooks House held its annual Harvard-Radcliffe freshman tea Sunday afternoon. Several hundred men, both freshmen and upper-termers, were present but only a handful of Radcliffe girls risked the hot weather to come to the gathering.

Activity at the tea, which was designed is introduce the two freshman classes to each other and to the virtues of PBH, was confined to sitting under the trees and sipping the endless supply of pineapple juice.

Next Sunday, a Navy V-12-Radcliffe tea will be given at Brooks House so that the new V-12ers will have a chance to meet the 45 new Radcliffe freshmen.

At the last PBH freshman reception in March, dancing, ping pong, and pool were on the program. Then, 60-odd Harvard freshmen were introduced to the 16 March entrants at Radcliffe.

Even if the freshmen came away dejected at the lack of feminine pulchritude, they were shown the purpose of PBH. Bond sales, blood donations and similar contributions to the war effort have been centered around PBH.
