Princeton Authorities Move To Abandon Formal Football

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dr. Harold W. Dood's announcement that Princeton College would not schedule football games next season placed the Tigers on the list of those colleges that have abandoned formal football for the duration of the war.

The primary reason given for discontinuing all major sports was that only a limited number of players would be available. It was further pointed out that "the severity of wartime schedules does not afford adequate time for training which is more than ever essential."

Princeton will follow Harvard's plan of playing games of an informal nature and with nearby Institutions only. The last time the Tigers had to give up the grid sport was in 1917.
