Billionaire Investor Gerald Chan Under Scrutiny for Neglect of Historic Harvard Square Theater
More than 60 men, both Navy and civilian, have responded thus far to Coach Richard Dorson's call for candidates for the Harvard tennis team, thereby completely dispelling any doubts that may have existed up to now regarding the future of this Varsity sport.
The squad, however, must be cut down to less than 20 men; in order to do this, several competitions will be held within the present group, and the winners will be chosen for the Varsity team. These competitions, and subsequent practices, will be held at the courts next to the Business School until the Soldiers Field courts are ready later in the year.
The schedule, as it stands, is rather barren. The first game will be played against Worcester Polytechnic Institute at Worcester on May 20, with a return match here on June 10. The team is also slated to travel up to Andover for a match on May 27. Other matches will be scheduled and announced in the near future.
As it shapes up now, the team will be led by Jack Lynch of the V-12, who played on last year's Varsity team. Also prominent in Coach Dorson's plans is Gene Sands, another V-12 man, who was the mainstay of last year's Freshman team.
