By a two to one decision of the judges, a team from the Harvard Debating Council last night triumphed over a two-man squad from Clark University in Worcester. The Crimson debaters, Robin Worthington '47 and W. Browster Kopp'47, who replaced Eills Kaplan '46, defended the negative in the question "Resloved. That the federal government supervise and support public education under the college level."
The debate, which took place in the Lowell House Junior Common Room, was decided largely on the basis of the strength of arguments presented by the negative. However the Clark debaters H. Philip Auffrey and Stanley H. Outridge, both Juniors, were accorded the edge in their oratory.
The Judges included Orval H. Mowrer associate professor of Education, Caleb A. Smith, instructor in Economics, and William A. Seiz of the English department.
