Recently returned from active duty in a cruiser on the Mediterranean, Lieutenant Frank F. Smart, Jr., Chaplains Corps, USNR, is now Chaplain to Navy personnel at Harvard.
Chaplain Smart was called to active duty in the month of September, 1941. His first official job was as officer of the line in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington. Following 16 months in the Capital he was transferred to the Navy Chaplain's School at Norfolk. From there he was ordered to sea duty.
Chaplain Smart is a native of Massachusetts, spending his youth in the town of Milton. He holds a B.S. degree from the United States Naval Academy and a B.D. degree from Virginia Theological Seminary. His office is located next to the students' lounge on the third floor of Phillips Brooks House.
