Harvard Athletic Association certificates will be awarded to all men who have competed for the Crimson on informal teams since July 1, 1943, it was announced yesterday by Carroll F. Getchell, director of the H.A.A.
Nine Teams on List
The certificates, which will take the place of pre-war Harvard H's, will be awarded for intercollegiate competition in baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track. Absent from the list are the swimming, wrestling, golf, fencing, and hockey teams, which have not engaged in any form of intercollegiate competition since formal athletics were discontinued in the spring of 1943.
Will Be Ready Soon
Approximately seven by ten inches in size and bearing the H.A.A. seal, the certificates are similar to peacetime Harvard H's, which were awarded at the end of a man's Senior year. Almost ready for distribution, the wartime certificates are waiting only for the engraving of the various names on each award. When ready, the certificates will be delivered personally to all men still in College and will be mailed to all others.
