George Boston's set shot from mid-court with 40 seconds left to play gave Eliot's sea-Elephants a victory over the Jayvees in an informal game last night.
The battle was hotly contested by both teams from start to finish and the lead see-sawed back and forth continually. Eliot was paced by Boston, Hibbard, and Johnson who scored 6, 12, and 10 points respectively. The Jayvees were led by Danny Garelick and Bill McGee, who rolled up 12 apiece.
The marine mammoths led 16 to 14 at the half, only to have the court knotted up at the end of the third quarter at 24-all. With two minutes to play, they led 30 to 26, but Garelick rolled in two fours and a see to tie it at 30-30. Then Boston did his stuff and it was all over.
