THREE LANGUAGES EXAMS TO BE HELD

Special language reading examinations in French, German, and Latin will be offered on August 25, 26, and 27 respectively for students who wish to satisfy the college reading requirements in one of these languages, it was announced yesterday by the university. These examinations will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 on these afternoons.

Reading examinations will not be held this term in Spanish, Greek or Italian because of the lack of demand for tests in these subjects. Students instead may meet the requirements in one of these languages or in Russian, Chinese Japanese, or Arabic by passing certain, courses or by special examinations.

On the French and German examinations to be given on August 25 and 26 students will be offered a choice of passages dealing with literary, historical, or scientific subjects. No application is required for these examinations and no charge is made for them.

A change has been made in the rules regarding the requirement in French, German, or Latin to enable students receiving an honor grade in the first half of French or German D, E, or F or Latin B to satisfy the requirement in this way.
