COMPANY C

By Sgt. DOUGLAS D. macdonald

The men of the newly activated companies C and D of the ASTU have been setting up light housekeeping in their quarters in Mather Hall, Leverett House Daily they may be observed gayly mopping floors, washing windows policing he grounds around their abode, always singing as they work at their appointed tasks.

At present their most pressing task is a WPA-ish project of leveling off a vacant lot next to Mather Hall for the purpose of constructing a couple of volleyball courts and several horseshoe-pitching games. The ground is to be covered with a layer of cinders as soon as the leveling process is completed.

Six expert signal men from the companies have recently succeeded in rigging an extension of the P.A. system now employed by Co. C. The task was complicated to some degree because the wire running from McKinlock Hall across the street to Mather Hall had to be led brough a steam conduit connecting the two buildings beneath the street. Bugle alls and occasional announcements made a A company will now be heard by the men in the new companies adjacent.

First Sgt. Morris Isacowitz played the part of benefactor by arranging for the attendance of the entire population of Mather Hall at a Boston Brave-Cincinnati ball game on Thursday. With the grand cooperation of the Buddies' Club in Boston he was able to procure ducats gratis for all the men.

The men made the safari to the ball park by means of pavement pounding from the Air Corps, the Engineers and diverse other sources. They made the march from Harvard to the ball park in about a half hour and very few complaints of sore dogs were heard at the game, where more vocalizing of a more raucous and strident nature than that of the march was heard. It may be taken for granted that one or two of the more spirited fans will be heard to whisper for some days to come
