Two Reassigned as Students As Indoctrination Finishes

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Following the elimination of the elementary nature of the Naval Training School (Communications) course, the NTS officials announced the detachment of seven members of the staff and the assignment of two of the former instructors back to Harvard as student officers.

The two student officers, who will now live, work, and do push-ups with their former students, are Ensign Jay M. Greene and Ensign Homer D. Jones. Both seemed glad to be relieved of teaching duties.

Lieuteant (jg) Clifford Hoffman, an NTS staff officer since the opening of the school in July, 1942, has been assigned to an advanced training course at Fort Schnyler, New York. While here, Lieutenant Hoffman acted part of the time as assistant regimental officer. He taught a deck course in the indoctrination division.

Irwin Goes to Miami

Also here since July was Lieutenant (jg) Wilbur Irwin. Naval Administration teacher, who reported last week to Miami Beach, Florida, for another teaching assignment.

Three staff officers, Lieutenant Robert Close, Lieutenant (jg) Donald Murphy, and Lieutenant (jg) Irving Bowman, have been detached from the school and are awaiting further orders.
