Billionaire Investor Gerald Chan Under Scrutiny for Neglect of Historic Harvard Square Theater
Four months ago a new musical organization. The Slide Rule Symphony, led by the versatile Professor Chaffec, appeared in Cambridge. It proved to be a true rival for the Boston Pops Orchestra. The soloist on the Saxophone was none other than Dr. A. (Amplifier) Tatum. The tall Texan brought down the house with a ballad from his home state, "Deep in the Heart of Texas". Other stars of the faculty made up the rest of the ensemble. We will never forget Dr. Le Corbeiller giving out on the cello.
Now that Pops has stopped for the summer, the Slide Rule Symphony is taking over. True music lovers and all radio engineers will be there to see the faculty do its stuff. The tentative date is August 7, but you fellows who are leaving Harvard don't need to worry. If you're anywhere around, you're all invited.
Orpheus Joined by Bacchus
For those who do not succumb to Orpheus' charms, there will be more substantial pleasures. Food and drink will be served. Certainly there will be dancing before and after the show. Better begin planning now to bring your wives and sweethearts, WAVES, WACS, or WHAMS, or maybe a SPAR. Everything is being arranged for the big event: Professor Mimno is even communicating with the ionosphere to arrange for the best possible weather.
We are looking for talent among the students here to contribute to the show. If you, or your wife or sweetheart, etc. can sing, or play anything from the violin to the bazooka, or if you are an amateur magician, please see Major Fay or Ensign Bailey. Here's a chance for somebody to work up a good barbershop quartet. If you're interested, even if you're looking for the other three members, let us know.
This is first advance notice of the climax of the summer season at Harvard. You'll be hearing about it as it develops. But keep it in mind.
