V-12 MEN GIVEN WELCOME HERE

Nine hundred and twenty-five members of the Harvard undergraduate V-12 unit were welcomed last night in Sanders Theatre as Paul H. Buck, dean of the faculty of Arts and Sciences, A. Chester Hanford, dean of the College, and Captain George N. Barker, USN, head of all Navy Schools here, greeted the men studying under the Navy's college training program.

Dean Buck, in his address, outlined very briefly some of the salient features of the Harvard educational setup, describing the type of learning and instruction that Harvard endeavored to give to its students. Dean Hanford emphasized the college side of Harvard, as well as the history of the nation's oldest University, mentioning the House system, basis of College life.

Captain Barker, in his official capacity as commanding officer of the group, spoke a brief word of welcome to his newest, and one of his largest, schools. The group filled Sanders Theatre to capacity, as they marched in a body through the Yard.
