Although all V-1 and V-7 students will automatically become members of V-12 shortly after the beginning of the summer term, they will not be required to follow the regular V-12 curriculum, Perkins stated.
They may be required by the Navy to take certain basic courses, but in general, they will be allowed to follow their existing schedules of concentration. The Navy may require them to take courses in English, Math, Physics, and possibly Engineering Drawing.
Pre-Meds
Perkins stated that pre-medical students now in a V program may continue their established schedule until they are accepted by a medical school or fail to be. Pre-meds who enter V-12 now will follow a regular V-12 curriculum set up for them.
Certain questions about the number of courses required still remain unanswered. The Navy has not, as yet, made clear whether it will give credit for work done in tutorial either. It is expected, however, that V-12 men will have to take a six course program to satisfy the Navy.
A special booklet listing the courses which will be given to V-12 students seems to indicate that most students will start with studies in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, English, Chemistry, and various Naval subjects.
