STATISTICACKLES

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Has the Statistical School become coed? Who is the female who occupies (appropriately) a back seat in class and places a "restraining influence" on the Professors whenever a "quip" is forthcoming? The secret is out. She is Miss Thelma Cutter of the Glass Hall secretarial staff, who, incidentally, is progressing admirably in the studies given the "Singing Statisticians." If ever a Women's Army Statistical Patrol (WASP) is organized, she'll surely become No. 1 Stinger.

Apparently that New England curiosity is causing traffic tie-ups along Soldiers Field Parkway from 1600 to 1700 o'clock daily, when the potential 2nd Lieutenants have their physical training period clad in shorts, showing off their Miami suntanned legs--to say nothing of their drill-ability.

John F. Shea has been selected as Squadron Commander for Class 8-43, after a comprehensive series of trials and comparisons of previous experiences of the several competitors. second in command is Jack E. Wilson. Flight Lieutenants are Reuben R. Wigdor and John F. Kelly.

A farewell party was held last Tuesday vening in the Faculty Club by the cadre and secretaries of the Statistical School for Lieutenant Carlton L. Ericksen who is expcted to leave shortly for overseas duty, First Sergeant Eskel D. Carlson, who left on Wednesday for Camp Davis, North Carolina to attend Anti-Aircraft Artillery Officer Candidate School, and Sergeant Robert C. Purser, Jr., who will take off on Monday to the University of Mississippi, Army Administration School, Branch 1. The Statistical School will miss them greatly. All the staff has wished them the best of luck in their new assignments. Lieutenant Ericksen was ordered to this Station from Atlantic City last October and since that time has been serving primarily as Physical Training Officer and Assistant Adjutant, plus the usual "additional duties." He has proved himself a good friend and advisor to the students and a fine officer to all his military and civilian associates.
