The crew that Tom Bolles left behind him will test its strength for the first time late Saturday afternoon when it rows M.I.T. over a Henley course mile and five-sixteenths. The starting time has tentatively been set for 5 o'clock, but depending on weather conditions, this time may be shifted forward.
The first boat, which will be out to continue a two-year unbroken string of victories; will seat only two men, Scho Andrews at five and Jimmy Ducey at cox, from last year's first boat, but Bolles and Bert Haines have worked out a good crew from the men available. Captain Dave Noyes, Frank Snyder, and Dudley Lamson pull two, three, and four respectively and saw action on last year's J. V. boat.
John Potter and Gus Merwin, one and six, were on the Freshman crew, Carl Seligman at stroke was a J.V. rower, and Dick Hunneman, seven, who rounds out the boat, is a Freshman from Browne and Nichols.
Following the big race the J.V.'s and the first 150 pound boat will meet similar crews from Tech over the same course. Next big event for the Varsity and J.V.'s will be a jaunt to Philadelphia to race against Navy, Penn, and Cornell a week from Saturday.
