Armed Service Will Meet With Harvard

Members of the Armed Service stationed of the University will play a large pat in the Harvard commencement cerements scheduled for May '29 it was announced by President James B. Canant last week.

The regular College graduation has been greatly shortened by the oraission of undergraduate parts and in its place will be extensive military ceremonies in these. Harvard will give place to commanding officers of Army and Navy units, who will award diplomas to the members of the various service schools who are graduations of the time.

7000 people are expected to attend the annual ceremonies which although on a very much simpler scale then in previous years will still preserve much of the traditional color and dignity. Only one honorary degree will be awarded at the time, and in accordance with University tradition, the name of the recipient will be kept closely guarded until the ceremonies actually take place.

President Conant will be the principal Business School; and Maurice J. Tobin, Mayor of Boston.

Dean David

Both Dean David and Mayor Tobin spoke briefly to the assembly, at the end of which time the meeting was turned over to Cadet Tom Merchant who acted as master of ceremonies for the half hour's entertainment which followed. Skits and novelty numbers were presented by members of each unit.
