Scores of aspiring pugilists are awaiting their turn to square off in the House boxing tournament which gets under way today at 3 o'clock in the boxing room of the Indoor Athletic Building. So far, 57 men have signed up or the tourney, bettering the number of participants last year by 20.
In former years before the Seniors started getting drafted, there used to be quite a few recognized boxers, but Coach Henry Lamar thinks that this contest will see more novices than veterans. Most of the present contestants have undergone some training in one of Lamar's classes, and many are wise to the various styles of their opponents.
Weighing in started at noon yesterday and will continue until 2 o'clock today. The preliminaries will be run off today and the finals are to be held at 3 o'clock tomorrow. "All right, men, shake hands, go to your corners, and come out fighting."
