V-1 Qualifying Exam Is Slated for April 20

All Members of '44, '45-Must Take Test

Qualifying examination for every man in V-1 who is now taking, or has already taken in the past the second term of his Sophomore term, will be given April 20, Elliott Perkins '23, director of the War Service Information Bureau, announced last night. This was not to be confused with the V-12 examination, which would be given April 2, he emphasized.

This examination would include any person who entered the College before the summer term which started in June, 1942. Members of the Class of '46 will therefore be exempt, but all members of the Classes of 1944 and 1945 will have to take it.

Type of Test

The examination will test the candidate's knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, and English, as provided in the terms of their enlistment and will last for three hours. Sample copies of the test may be seen at 12 Little Hall.

Simultaneously Perkins announced the drawing up of a new Navy program called SV-7. Candidates for this class may have eyes as weak as 8/20 but they must be correctable to 20/20, and candidates must be Juniors or Seniors concentrating in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electronics, or Naval Architecture.

Candidates for SV-7 must follow the procedure as previously established for V-1 and V-7. Application should be made at Little Hall where thorough screening will take place before the applications are sent in to 150 Causeway Street.

Perkins also urged that all men who are interested in V-5 apply promptly because, although V-5 is still open, there is a rumor that a quota will soon be slapped on.
