QUINTET WHIPS TERRIERS

Technically speaking, the Crimson basketball team ended a three game losing streak Saturday night with its 43 to 38 triumph over Boston University at the Indoor Athletic Building. Strictly speaking, Coach Earl Brown's men are still a long way from their pre-Christmas form, and only an abrupt about-face can lift their noses out of the Ivy League cellar.

The Terrier battle was close all the way. Brown started an all-Sophomore five, a replica of last year's Freshman team, and the visitors hopped out to a 6 to 4 lead. The regulars took over after five minutes, and with Frank Bixler finding the range on a wide variety of shots, the Brownmen led 19 to 16 at the half.

From here in, the Varsity was never headed. BU threatened twice, paced by forwards Joe Silver and George Gaudreault, who scored almost at will to account for all but four of the Terrier points between them. Both times they moved to within three points of the Crimson, but short spurts kept the wolf from the door.

Bunks Burditt, who broke his nose in Friday's practice session, appeared in a facial costume reminiscent of the man in the iron mask, and he was visibly handicapped. Bixler had a good night offensively, as did Dean Hennessey, whose one-handed jump shots were hitting their mark.
