SWIFT SELECTED AS NEW PBH PRESIDENT

Stanton, Keene Will Fill Other Positions

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

At a meeting of the Brooks House Cabinet last night, Richard N. Swift '44 of Adams House and Bloomfield, New Jersey, took over the post of president left vacant by the departure Sunday of George M Burditt '44, and Thomas Stanton '44 of Eliot House and Cincinnati, was elected vice-president.

Swift, who has been vice-president since elections held last fall, succeeded to the presidency automatically, while Stanton was chosen to fill Swift's former position. At the same time, the Cabinet voted that Thomas V. Keene '45 of Winthrop House and Indianapolis, Indiana, become secretary. Keene is treasurer of the Student Council, and his election therefore extends the customary procedure under which the post is filled by the Council officer.

Wind Social Service Head

Also announced at the meeting was the appointment of Lyman Wind '45, as chairman of the Social Service Committee. He announced that his group was trying to fill heavy demands from the Boston settlement houses and at the same time was working on plans to entertain in large military units such as the Chelsea Naval Hospital.

Tackling the problem of the disposition of the old clothes collected during the recent drive, the Cabinet decided to allot one-half of the donations to Russian War Relief. The rest, as usual, will go to the Morgan Memorial and to Cambridge relief agencies. According to Stanton, who has been in charge of the drive, the proceeds this year were of better quality than ever before.

It was also announced that the competition for the Personnel Committee would begin tonight at 7:30 o'clock in Brooks House. Swift, and Peter Kranz '45, chairman of the committee, will speak at the meeting, at which refreshments will be served.
