No members of the unassigned ERC still attending college have ben sent orders to report to active duty in the Second Service Command. Army officials interviewed Tuesday in New York emphasized, however, that such orders would be mailed in the next week or so.
They assured all men that they would be given approximately two weeks warning after receiving their orders before going to active duty. The Second Service Command, which has its headquarters in New York City, will send its ERC men to Fort Dix, Niagara, or Camp Upton for replacement training, according to where they live.
Men in the unassigned ERC who have graduated from or dropped out of college have already been sent orders, but the volume of paper work and outfitting necessary has delayed calling men from their studies. Method of calling-up procedure is expected to follow the date of the end of each institution's semester, current on January 27, cleaning out colleges successively.
