NO SPONSORED HOCKEY TEAM FOR THIS YEAR

Expense too Much for HAA; Basketball Also Limited

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Due to the heavy expenses involved, the Harvard Athletic Association will not sponsor a Varsity hockey team this season, it was announced by the Committee on Athletics Tuesday night. They also decided to curtail the basketball team's activities this year.

The hockey team, which had started practicing a couple of weeks ago, will continue to keep in form. They have played two games so far, one with the State Street All Stars, which they dropped, and the other with the Cambridge All Stars, which they won. Even though they will not have a Yale or Dartmouth game to look forward to this season, they are planning to keep practicing and to play several games with some of the nearby prep schools in the afternoons.

Transportation Difficulty

The Athletic Committee decided to limit the number of games that the Varsity five will play because of the difficulty that will be entailed in transportation. This would mean that the quintet may not be able to play a return game with the Elis, who are traveling to Cambridge Saturday to challenge the courtmen. Since practice has been cutting into the study time so much, the practice will be decreased soon.
