Monday brings our fifth week at Briggs, and disbursing. John Adams (couldn't possibly repeat that surname) is still at sea going strong! We are still at sea! Finals the latter part of next week will tell whether or not there is any point in coming ashore.
Yet life isn't as grim as this sounds. We did meet our fellow officers at Soldiers Field, to practice for the Navy Day review--then, remember, the heavens wept, and we didn't march Navy Day after all--instead we went to class two extra hours in the afternoon. That was gay!
The telephone rings more often and we've discovered that Park Street isn't the only place one can get off the subway. We were paid twice--which was happy!
We met Captain McIntosh informally for the first time Tuesday evening, and liked the talk our Skipper gave--his distinction between post war planning and post war wishing gave us a new perspective on the road ahead.
To prove some sort of a point, the majority of us, after a month in Cambridge, are not only worried about scholastic outcomes, but the passing of our days here. How many billets are there in the vicinity? (as long as there's no hope of assorting J.A.H.)
