AST Glee Club to Be On Network At 9 O'clock Tonight

Tonight at 9 o'clock over the Crimson Network the Glee Club of the Army Specialized Training Program at Harvard will make its radio debut. The club has made frequent appearances before members of the armed forces and tonight marks the first of a projected series of public performances.

The chorus of 30, under the direction of T/5 Robert R. Rogers, consists of enlisted men from the rank of private to master sergeant. A voluntary organization, its members rehearse several times a week with the object of building and maintaining as diversified a repertoire as possible.

This evening's program, in keeping with the policy of variety, ranges from liturgical selections to musical comedy. Two Bach chorales will open the recital: "Jesus, Meiner Seelen Wohner," and "Wachetauf, Ruft Uns die Stimme." This will be followed by "Salvation Belongeth to Our God," a chant by the Russian sacred composer Tchesnikoff. By sharp contrast, the Glee Club will continue with "Schnelder's Band" by A. J. Mundy, closing with a group of two operetta favorites, "Stout Hearted Men" from Sigmund Romberg's "New Moon," and "Old Man River," Jerome Kern's classic from "Show Boat."
