Coolidge to Preside Over Overflow Group

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Memorial Church will be completely filled by undergraduates Sunday morning when the University pays official tribute to students in all classes who will soon be leaving for the armed forces.

Originally it had been planned that the balcony should be reserved for parents, and possibly even some of the floor of the church. But the unexpected demand for tickets necessitated an over-flow meeting in Sanders Theatre. Professor Julian Lowell Coolidge, former Master of Lowell House, is expected to preside over the group, which will include Faculty members, parents, and officers from the service training schools.

Only academic procession dignitaries and University officials will be in the church itself, with the students. Any members of the Faculty, however, may obtain tickets to the Sanders meeting in University Hall C today and tomorrow.

Students Form in Basement

Students will form in the basement of the church at 10:15, and the R.O.T.C. units in Hunt Hall at the same time. The procession will start shortly thereafter, led by President James Bryant Conant and Dr. Reginald Fitz, University Marshal. The governing boards, distinguished guests, including Governor Saltonstall, Major-General Sherman Miles, Admiral Wilson Brown, Mayor Corcoran, and Harvard officials, will form in the Isham Memorial Library and march to the church.

The procession will come through the main door of the church, and split into two sections, one moving down each side aisle. They will pass the dignitaries standing on the chancel, and continue up the middle aisle to seats. Each class will be headed by officers, if elected, and a pair of Junior ushers. Next will come the Army R.O.T.C. unit, followed by the Navy and the remainder of the class.

Today and tomorrow, from 9 to 5 o'clock undergraduates who applied may get their tickets in University Hall C. Tickets are also available for the Class Day celebration Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in Sanders Theatre, for all undergraduates. Tables are still unreserved for dinner in Winthrop House at 7 o'clock Saturday night, and may be applied for at the H. A. A.

The service will be conducted by Dean Willard L. Sperry. Governor Saltonstall will read the first lesson from the Scripture, and President Conant will deliver a special Valedictory Sermon. Music will be provided by the full Glee Club, seated in Appleton Chapel.
