HUA Election Will Feature No Referenda or Survey Questions
Five Sophomore members will be elected to the Student Council this Friday and Saturday, the Council announced last night. The list of 17 nominees was drawn up to include only those who will not definitely be gone by February 1. At the same time four men will be chosen for the first time in history from the Freshman Class, from a slate not yet chosen.
Those nominated for '45 are: Hugh Calkins, Michael J. De Leo, Jr., Peter Garland, Dean M. Hennessey, Colin F. N. Irving, Charles M. Kidner, James E. McNulty, Jr., Richard W. Mechem, Sedgwick Minot, Jr., Maurice M. Osborne, Jr., Francis Parkman, Jr., Paul F. Perkins, Jr., Donald W. Richards, Armand Schwab, Jr., Sidney O. Smith, Jr., Robert T. P. Storer, Jr., and Andrew H. Wright.
Petitions Due Thursday
With balloting due to begin on Friday at noon, all petitions for additional nominations will have to be in by 12 o'clock M. on Thursday. Twenty-five signatures are needed for nomination, and should be handed in to retiring president Thomas Matters '43 at Lowell D-11. Since the date of a man's leaving College was considered in the nominations, any students already nominated who are sure they will not return for the spring semester should also get in touch with Matters to withdraw their names.
The '46 slate will be announced Wednesday morning by a committee headed by George A. Saxton '44, in charge of Freshman Affairs.
Unlike previous years, present Sophomore members of the Council will not come up for re-election, Oliver D. Filley, Jr., George R. Hooper, and Thomas V. Keene, Jr., thus remaining on the Council as long as they are in College.
