Taking possession of Wadsworth Houses, which has been occupied by the Department of Military Science since the first World War, the central office of the Personnel Relations Department has been moved from Legman Hall where it formerly had its offices. Wartime expansion, which caused the Mill Set Department to move its headquarters to the SAE house was also responsible for this shift.
Not all of the Personnel Relations Department has departed from Lehman Hall, however, for that branch which handles the hiring of secretarial, clerical and professional help is still located there. These employees are not, of course, people hired by the Corporation such as professors, instructors and the like.
The main office, which is now in Wadsworth House, hires all help for the Service departments and other general departmental personnel. They handle all employee records, insurance, pensions, and sick pay.
The office's job demands that it keep about 3500 people in the service of the University. While this was not so great a task in former times, war conditions have complicated their job, for 122 employees have already been called into the service of the country.
