New Army Air Force Class Arrives Here

A new class of "singing statisticians" entered the Army Air Forces Statistical School at the Business School Monday, to complete training that will prepare it for duty in air force units in the United States and overseas.

To be quartered in the Yard and at the Business School, all the new men have spent at least three months as in listed men and have studied at the Administrative Officer's Candidate School at Miami Beach, Florids, before being transferred to the training center here.

Given their nickname because of their practice of singing while marching to and from class at Soldiers Field, the statistical officers are the newest branch of the Army Air Corps.

Only recently were Statistical Officers provided for in the Tables of Organization of various Air Force units, in order to meet the need of Aviation officers from the lowest squadron commander to the highest commanding general for vital facts concerning status of aircraft, personnel, operating, and supply. The uniform reporting system being thought statistical officers here has already been tested successfully in the field and has shown its value for combat organization.
