Taking the place of the girls yesterday evacuated from Grays and Weld Halls, the Second Class of the Army Air Foce Statistical School which is located in Mellon Hall at the Business School, moved into the Yard yesterday.
An unannounced number of men will make up a new class every few months, the exact number and frequency of arrival being a military secret.
Statisticians Needed
Designed to turn out statistical officers trained to prepare data on materiel, personnel, and operations of almost every type of Army Air Force unit in the continental United States and the various theatres of war, the school is the only one of its kine in the country. The need for a standard by which to measure the readiness of an air force unit has been great, and these officers are being taught such a standard, upon which they will base their reports, to be sent to the correct higher officers, and to Washington.
The Second Class, not yet graduated, will remain in Weld and Grays for about two weeks. Their classes will be held in Sever Hall and Lawrence Hall, at the Graduate School of Education.
