APPOINT HART TO OPA LEGAL STAFF

Two eminent Harvard graduates have recently been lifted to high posts in the nation's war effort. Saturday night it was announced in Washington that Professor Henry M. Hart, Jr. '26, of the Harvard Law School has been appointed associate general counsel of the Office of Price Administration. His duty will be to coordinate the four price sections of the legal division. After serving for a year as secretary to the late Justice Brandeis, he joined the faculty of the Law School in 1932. Professor Hart has also had experience as a special assistant attorney general of the United States and as acting head of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Dr. Elliot C. Cutler, a major in the Harvard medical unit in the World War, and from 1927 to 1932 a member of the Harvard Board of Overseers, will leave Tuesday to take up a high position in the medical corps of the overseas American armies.

Graduated from Harvard in 1909, and from Harvard Medical School in 1913, Dr. Cutler has become the author of many brilliant achievements, such as performing the first successful operation on the human heart, in 1923. Chief surgeon of Peter Bent Brigham Hospital since 1932, and head of the medical aid division of the Massachusetts Committee on Public Safety, he is one of the most distinguished of American surgeons.
