Lanky Hallett Whitman has departed from the rowing scene, but not without taking more than his just share of the spoils. In his four years of College rowing Whitman has taken the shirts from the backs of 42 opposing sweepswingers.
This number of College shirts Whitman has collected at the cost of but one to himself, a Jayvee shirt which he lost in the Adams Cup Race of his Sophomore year. Freshman, Junior, and Senior years were undefeated so far as Whitman was concerned.
His loot is kept in a bureau drawer, where the more recent acquisitions have been piled while still moist on their more moldy predecessors, the whole contributing to what his roommate describes as an olfactory symphony.
