Intrepid Bicyclist Crosses Charles via Rail of Bridge

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Attracting a large crowd of curious onlookers, a lone bicyclist held up traffic on Larz Anderson Bridge yesterday by casually pedaling back and forth five times along the slim rail of the bridge.

When questioned about his feat, William L. Putnam '45 modestly admitted that he had been spurred on by the challenge of his girl friend. This was the second time that Putnam had successfully completed such an exhibition, for on Thursday he had held up several distracted crews on the river below.

This is the first time that such a vehicular crossing has been made although passage over the rail by foot is a well known mode of returning from football games.
