Varsity tennis coach Jack Barnaby reported yesterday that his team's success at the New England Intercollegiate tennis matches, held earlier this week at Middletown, Conn., had gained for the Crimson 1 1/2 points toward retirement of the permanent trophy which has been established.
The trophy will be awarded to the first team which amasse a total of eight points in the N. E. I. tournaments. At the matches this week Harvard received one point for the doubles victory of Dick Sorlien and Hugh Hyde, and a half point when Jim Jenkins reached the finals in the singles.
The racquetmen play M. I. T. today on the Divinity Field courts and an alumni team on Saturday.
