Speaking over the Crimson Network last night Dean A. Chester Hanford discussed in detail many of the changes that had been wrought in various phases of the University life as a result of Pearl Harbor, especially those concerned with the summer term, Freshman in the House, and summer employment.
To hasten acclimatization of the 500 Freshman who will enter the Houses in June, Hanford has proposed that the regular teaching staff of the House be utilized to serve as Freshman advisers. In addition to those would be added as many as needed instructors from elementary courses.
The draining off of many of the dining hall workers to defense industries has provided opportunities for many more than the usual number of students seeking work. Aldrieh Durant has announced that there is "a pressing and acute need for students to serve in the dining halls and on the grounds."
