Filling the Yard in front of Widener and spreading out under the elms, a crowd of 1200 people gathered last evening to hear the first of three Yard concerts given by the Glee Club and a special concert band.
Presented on the program were "To Three Alone, O Lord," by Bach, choruses from the "Yeomen of the Guard," by Sullivan, songs from the "Beggars Opera," by Gay and Pepusch, and also a Mozart canon. After the presentation of these pieces and a medley of Harvard tunes by the band, students mounted the steps beside the Glee Club and joined them in singing Harvard songs. The concert ended with the singing of "Fair Harvard."
Outstanding attraction of part of the concert was the young son of G. Wallace Woodworth '24, director of the Glee Club, who during the playing of the band, mounted on the pedestal of one of the pillars of Wideney and led the entire ensemble with great gusto great gusto and no little skill.
