Gridmen May Add Carolina Air Base To '42 Opponents

For the first time since the Three Presidents' Agreement wont into effect on January 1, 1923, Harvard's football team is expected to play more than eight games next fail and start its season before the first Saturday in October. Although specific official confirmation is lacking the Crimson Varsity will probably play the cadets of the naval training center at the University of North Carolina on September 26.

Approached last night, William J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics, would not deny such a game was planned but suggested that he had already asked Dean Hanford to confer with the deans of Yale and Princeton on the subject.

Follows University Policy

This move would be in full accord with the University's policy of full cooperation with the armed forces and Bingham's previously-stated stand of asking for a suspension of the agreement if a game was requested. The portion of the agreement prohibiting football practice before September 1 has already been lifted for the duration, but those sections formed to limit schedules to eight games and to prevent the season from beginning before the first Saturday in October still stand.

If these are waived, the only dates open for any such contest are September 26 and October 31, bordering the regular season. It has been pointed out that the latter would interfere with November hour exams.
