ARMED UNITS TO DISPLAY POWER IN MASS REVIEW

Sixteen hundred Harvard men will stage the largest full-dress military review seen in this vicinity since World War days, on Monday, May 11, at Soldiers Field.

After marching to the baseball field adjacent to the Stadium the massed forces will pass in review before a distinguished party consisting of President James B. Conant; Governor Leverett Saltonstall '14; Charles F. Adams '88, President of the Harvard Board of Overseers; Major General Sherman Miles, Commanding General of the First Corps Area; Rear Admiral W. T. Tarrant, Commandant, First Naval District, and other dignitaries.

The battalions will begin forming their ranks at 3:30 o'clock, with the five field artillery units lining up in massed formation in the quadrangle in front of Widener, the Quartermaster Battalion in front of Sever, the officers from the Cruft Laboratory near the entrances to Grays Hall, and the Naval Supply Corps Officers with the Naval Science Battalion in the area near the northwest corner of University Hall.

At 4 o'clock, to the martial strains of a United States Army band from Fort Devens, the individual units will parade out of the Yard through the Johnson Gate in columns of massed batteries. With the band in the lead, the Harvard "Army and Navy," including a motorized battery of "75's" will march through the Square and down Boylston Street to Soldiers Field.

Once in formation on the field, a horse-drawn battery of four 75 mm. guns will honor Governor Saltonstall with a 19 gun salute. The reviewing party will then inspect the troops. Following the inspection the combined forces will pass in review, with the command presenting arms and the battalion flags dipped in salute.

The review, which will be open to the public, will include almost all the participants in the University's military and naval training program: 750 men of the Army R.O.T.C Regiment, comprising the Field Artillery Unit and the Quartermaster Corps; the 250 students of Naval Science; 300 members of the Naval Supply Corps at the Business School; and 150 Army and Navy officers studying at the Cruft Laboratory.

The ordinary ceremonies which the Army R.O.T.C. alone holds in its annual reviews, such as the presentation of awards, will be dispensed with in this display.
