MIAMI TEAM WINS OVER RACQUETMEN

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Coach Jack Barnaby's Varsity tennis team took one on the chin yesterday afternoon when they went down to defeat by a score of 6 to 3 before Miami University, but the beating was nothing to be ashamed of, for Miami, boasting Bill Gillespie, who is among the top 20 in the nation's national rankings, has one of the strongest contingents in the country.

Wilson Double Winner

Captain Orme Wilson in the number three slot and Dick Sorlien playing number six were the two Crimson racquetmen to take their singles matches. Wilson had no trouble winning his, but Miami's Stoddard carried Sorlien to two sets before going down to defeat in the third, 8-6.

In the doubles, Wilson, playing with number one man Jim Jenkins, was once again a winner when they defeated Stoddard and Garber, 6-8, 6-1, 6-1. Gillespie lived up to his advance notices with a vengeance, first defeating Jenkins, 6-3, 6-4 and then, together with his partner, Bill Blake, taking over Hugh Hyde and Sorlien.
