Varsity Baseball Team Travels To Battle Terriers Tomorrow

'45 Plays Worcester; Reilly Likely Starter

Tomorrow, after almost two weeks of delay, the baseball nine will take a crack at B. U. for the official record book. The Varsity travels to Riverside, out Wellesley way, tomorrow afternoon for a 3 o'clock whistle.

At the same time, the Yardling ball team will go on to Worcester Academy, at the town of the same name. Brenden Reilley, who beat St. Mark's, 11-2, is expected to take the mound for the '45 squad.

To bolster Crimson hopes tomorrow, Coach Floyd Stahl revealed that slugging Sophomore Ned Fitzgibbons will be back at first for the Terrier game. Fitzgibbons was fully recovered from his sore throat yesterday afternoon and just to prove it drove out a homer in the intra-squad scrimmage.

Stahl's pitching situation is a bit more indefinite. Fearing that the Terriers are better than they appeared in their practice meeting with the Varsity last week, he refuses to name a starter before game time. If he plans it conservatively, however, he will most probably open with Captain Lou Clay, and, if the tussle seems easy enough, switch to less-experienced Dick Harding.

Clay Neared Shut-Out Against Lions

Clay last took his turn pitching at Columbia a week ago. On that occasion he held the Lions to a two-hit shut-out for eight and two-thirds innings. Then he gave up two doubles and a single, which accounted for two runs before the ball game was over.

The Crimson's batting order will be identical to that which started against both Columbia and Northeastern, with Fitzgibbons added, of course. B. U., however, has undertaken a thorough revision of their lineup.

Captain Charlie Thomas has been shifted from center to right field and Don Giles has broken into the starting nine at center. Leon Peao seems to have taken the first base assignment away from early-season started Madden. Either Howie Mitchell or Bob McKee will hurl for the Terriers.
