Hardly started on its dual meet season, the Crimson golf team, six strong faces one of its most exacting tests of the season today and tomorrow, when the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships are played off at Worcester.
Representing the Cantabs are Pete Macgowan, Art Tarlow, Don Davis, Bill Allis, Ned Tuckerman, and Ollie Ames. In last year's Eastern Intercollegiates, the Crimson took second place.
All six men practiced at the Worcester course yesterday, and they seemed pleased with the results. Tuckerman shot a 76, Macgowan had 78, and the other four averaged about 80, a figure which Coach Don Peddie says should mean a good rating, if repeated today.
Most formidable of the other five competitors, all members of the Eastern Intercollegiate League, are Yale and Holy Cross, a squad which pinned a 6 to 8 defeat on the putters last week. Also entered are Dartmouth, the defending champion, Williams, and Brown.
