Professor Auer Discusses The Church and Democracy

"The American Church and the Shaping of Democracy" was the subject of an address last night in the Union library by J. A. C. Fagginger Auer, professor of Church History and Parkman Professor of Theology. The lecture was concluded with an open discussion.

Professor Auer laid great emphasis on the fundamental causes of the war. "We tend to oversimplify these causes," he said, "by propagandist exaggerations. We condemn, for example, the invariable wrong of the Axis peoples, and place on the other side the exact opposite on the part of our allies."
