UNIVERSITY HANDICAP TRACK RACES WILL BE HELD TODAY

Freshmen Dominate in Field Events, Take Eight Places

Because of the "unseasonable" weather Friday and Saturday, the running events in the University Handicap track meet will take place today.

In the field events department, the Freshmen dominated the results, copping eight places. Only in the high jump did they fall to place.

The summary:

Hammer Throw--Won by Jack Fisher. Second, Tom White. 142 ft., 2 1/2 in.

Discus Throw--Won by Dick Pflster. Second, Ted Withington. Third, Pete Garland. 140 ft., 7 1/2 in.

Shot Put--Won by Sandy Wheeler. Second, Pete Garland. Third, Dick Pflster. 49 ft.

Javelin Throw--Won by Jack Jackson. Second, Monroe Herskovitz. Third, Sandy Wheeler. 154 ft., 11 in.

Pole Vault--Won by Lon Wright. Second, John Lester, Third tie between Steve Brooks and Alex Rogerson. 13 ft., 9 in.

High Jump--Won by John Bunker. Second, Ted Bauer, Third, John Lester, 5 ft., 11 in.
